MEET THE TEAM: GINGER SPICKLER, OPPORTUNITY WRANGLER (also known as our Director of Strategic Partnerships and Projects)

Mrs. Spickler’s friends describe her as a “reforming perfectionist” who is constantly trying to make something better. She loves to spend time with her husband and two sons whether that is traveling on their free time or relaxing at their home in Cooper-Young. Though she is not a native Memphian she is one at heart and calls this beautiful, imperfect city her home. Mrs. Spickler is an avid reader, she has been a part of the same book club for more than 15 years; she jokingly says “yes, we actually read the books!” She is also passionate about bringing people together around new and exciting visions that usually involves education.

Mrs. Spickler has worked in the education field for several years but hasn’t had the chance to work in a school until now. She is glad the first school she is working at is XTH because of the opportunity “to create everything from the ground up, always asking ourselves, what is best for students?”

Mrs. Spickler isn’t afraid to ask anyone to invest in the young learners at XTH because she strongly believes that our students will gain valuable knowledge from the people in our community. Her advice to the students at XTH are words from her own father, “Don’t shut the door in your own face.” She interprets this to putting yourself out there and taking risks, “they won’t always work out, but you’d be surprised how often they do.”
