Get to know Crosstown High in August
Crosstown High is still a year away from opening with an inaugural class of 9th graders, but we are ready to welcome you into the brand new Crosstown High Collaboratory space on the first floor of Crosstown Concourse. The rest of the school will be built out on the 4th and 5th floors over the coming year, but we have a number of upcoming opportunities for you to visit our home for the next year, meet our leadership team and learn more about how we are rethinking high school at Crosstown High.
Saturday, August 19 (4:30-7 pm) – Crosstown Concourse Opening Celebration
Come for the big Opening Day Celebration at Crosstown Concourse, and stop by Crosstown High for a visit while you’re there. The festivities in the Concourse kick off at 3 pm, but the open house portion of the day (when Crosstown High will be open) is 4:30-7 pm. We’ll be giving a short overview of Crosstown High at the top and bottom of every hour, and our team will be available to answer questions in between. We’ll also have a video crew on hand to capture your thoughts on how we should #rethinkhighschool.
Thursday, August 24 (5:30-7:30 pm) – Rethink High School Block Party
The XQ Super School Bus is returning to Memphis for a special stop at Crosstown Concourse. Last year, Crosstown High was a finalist in the XQ Super School Project, and now the bus is returning to highlight our ongoing work to #RethinkHighSchool in Memphis. Join us for free food, music, a peek inside the new Crosstown High Collaboratory space, and of course, a visit to the XQ Super School bus. We want to hear YOUR ideas on how we should #RethinkHighSchool at Crosstown High!
Also…the Inside Out Project is traveling with the XQ bus and will be taking photos of young learners to use as part of a huge public art display at Crosstown Concourse. Any student (whether they plan to attend Crosstown High or not) is welcome to have their photo taken and be a part of this installation.
